Jacob Rayman Violin

Within the Collection is the dated 1641 Jacob Rayman violin.

It is thought to be the earliest known English made violin in the world.

Label on the inside "Jacob Rayman dwelling in Blackman Street Long-Southwalk" 

Jacob Rayman, born around 1596 and believed to have lived until around 1660. He was a notable German violin maker known for his craftsmanship during the Baroque era. He is sometimes referred to as Jacob Rauch or Jacob Reymann in historical documents.
