Musical Instruments as Hybrid Relics

‘Hybrid Relics’ is a UKRI EPSRC Horizon Agile Round 3.0 grant project focusing on musical instruments, secular and sacred relics as a way to explore our collection with a multidisciplinary perspective. The Bate Collection, led by Dr Emanuela Vai (Humanities) will be a partner institution on the project, which is coordinated and led by the University of Nottingham's Dr Alan Chamberlain (Computer Science) as PI. The project focuses on secular and sacred musical objects, using the concept of the ‘relic’ to develop and explore new and innovative ways to think about musical instruments, sensorial experiences, social computing, and the design of hybrid products.
